Thanksgiving is one of my favorite days of the year. Who doesn’t love family, football, parades and Black Friday frenzies… and the FOOD! Oh, the food!  Turkey, mashed potatoes & gravy, creamed corn, cranberries and pumpkin pie… you get it.  It’s all good.

My favorite Thanksgiving memories go back decades, to afternoons at my Uncle Al’s house. Adults doing all the cooking, while my cousins and I played games like croquet, football and badminton, or watched the Twilight Zone marathon when the older cousins wouldn’t let us younger ones play with them.

Now that I’m doing the “adulting”, the daily burdens are greater, but how refreshing it is to take time and unplug from the day-to-day responsibilities and expectations, and just focus on the blessings that surround me.

My Thanksgiving wish for you is that you experience contentment.  I hope that whatever trials you may be going through, are just temporary. I hope that you can count at least three things that make you happy. I wish that you would see yourself through the eyes of your friends and family and realize how special and loved you are. See the joy in the journey and appreciate not just what you have now, but where you came from.

Happy Thanksgiving from Heather & the Ravenswood Family
